Over the past five years, LIWEN has demonstrated resilience, competence, and innovation in addressing the needs of women and girls living with and affected by HIV/AIDS across Liberia. The organization made significant progress in advocacy, healthcare services, economic empowerment, governance, and institutional development.
A. Expanding Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Services
Reached over 45,000 beneficiaries through SRHR awareness campaigns in multiple counties.
Distributed over 20,000 menstrual hygiene kits to young women and girls.
Strengthened family planning programs, addressing early marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and teenage pregnancy.
Engaged in gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, equipping communities with legal and medical referral support.
B. HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment Programs
Conducted awareness campaigns reaching over 500,000 individuals to prevent new HIV infections.
Distributed 400,000+ condoms across 15 counties to promote safe sexual practices.
Implemented PrEP awareness and index testing to encourage early HIV detection and treatment.
Provided HIV treatment and care services, reaching:
500+ people living with HIV (PLHIV) lost- to -follow-up (LTF) and reintegrated them into treatment.
1,500+ people living with HIV (PLHIV) trained on drug adherence and viral load monitoring.
1,000+ people living with HIV (PLHIV) received viral load testing.
C. Economic Empowerment and Livelihood Support
Facilitated micro-loans benefiting 100+ women and girls living with and affected by HIV (WGLHIV).
Implemented skills training programs for 230+ individuals, focusing on agriculture, tailoring, and entrepreneurship.
Supported 1,000 + participants in Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA), fostering financial inclusion.
D. Advocacy and Human Rights Engagements
Led 3,000+ stakeholder engagements, influencing issues affecting women and girls living with and affected by HIV other marginalize groups.
Provided referral path way to legal support for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and discrimination.
Strengthened human rights awareness, improving societal attitudes towards people living with and affected by HIV.
E. Governance and Institutional Strengthening
Developed and implemented key institutional policies, enhancing internal governance.
Established and strengthened 7 community-based organizations (CBOs) across different counties.
Conducted 15+ strategic partnerships with government agencies, donors, and advocacy networks.
Advanced resource mobilization efforts, securing funding from multiple international donors.
